How long should I plan to spend?

    Plan on a full day. Versailles needs it; Versailles deserves
    it; Versailles will reward you handsomely for it.

What should I bring?

    Bring a hat, you'll need it.

    If you don't have a hat, buy a goofy looking umbrella
    hat from the vendors out front. Some worry they'll look
    silly in these - they look a lot less silly than the folks
    suffering heat exhaustion.

    Wear sensible shoes: there's a lot of walking and a lot of
    gravel . Sandals can be a pain.

    Bring binoculars if you have them, a small pair is great.

    Bring lots of water. It's expensive there, and not having
    enough is a sure way to get fatigued and cranky in a
    hurry.
